Citywide Community
The entire Vine network gathers together as a citywide community throughout the school year. Students who are not connected to a local branch are very welcome at citywide events and gatherings. Want to make sure you don't miss citywide events? Sign up for the weekly student e-letter here!
Here are some of the things we have do together as a citywide community:

Retreats
The Vine organizes retreats to get students out of the city and back in touch with God, nature and themselves. These includes weekends away and day retreats. Weekend retreats usually have a topic and include time for reflection and quiet, hiking, fun and games, and s'mores around a campfire. Day retreats are usually hiking trips or outings in nature. In 2025, The Vine will be taking its first ever international, week-long pilgrimage to the Isle of Iona in Scotland. This will be a retreat-like experience for rest, prayer, and connection with creation.
Service & Justice
Join The Vine as we seek to serve our neighbors in the city and throughout the world. Our citywide community engages in direct service to our neighbors and in justice and advocacy work throughout the year. In years past, we have volunteered with feeding programs, community gardens, and immigration support organizations. We also take regular faith and justice learning trips. Recent trips have included a hunger and immigration advocacy trip to Washington D.C., a Border Immersion in El Paso, Texas, a Racial Justice pilgrimage through the southern U.S., and an immersion trip to the Pine Ridge Reconciliation Center on the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation in South Dakota. These trips are powerful opportunities to expand our horizons, grow in relationship with neighbors we might never otherwise meet, and discern how we are called to put our faith in action to build a more just world.

Small Groups
Each semester, The Vine invites students from across the citywide community to participate in small groups focused on particular topics. These small groups happen in person, online, or a combination of both. Recent small group topics have included faith and anti-racism, gender identity and scripture, embodied spiritual practices, and the conflict in Palestine through a Christian lens.

Summer Outings
Just because school is out in summer doesn't mean our community goes dormant. The Vine citywide community gathers monthly during the summer for fun outings to explore our city. Previous summer outings have included trips to the Bronx Zoo, kayaking on the Hudson River, a trip to an escape room, museum visits, picnics, Yankees Game, marching in Pride, and more.
