Citywide Community
The entire Vine network gathers together as a citywide community throughout the school year. Students who are not connected to a local branch are very welcome at citywide events and gatherings. Want to make sure you don't miss citywide events? Sign up for the weekly student e-letter here!

Retreats
The Vine organizes retreats to get students out of the city and back in touch with God, nature and themselves. These includes weekends away and day retreats. We have explored various topics - last year's fall weekend retreat focused on "Sacred Stories," and included time for reflection and quiet, hiking, fun and games, and a trip to a cider mill. Our spring day retreat last year took us to Bear Mountain for hiking and refreshment in creation.

Service & Justice Work
Join The Vine as we seek to serve our neighbors in the city and throughout the world. Our citywide community engages in direct service to our neighbors and in justice and advocacy work throughout the year. In years past, we have volunteered with feeding programs and taken a Faith in Action Spring Break Pilgrimage to Washington D.C., where we learned about faith-based advocacy and met with policy makers about issues of food insecurity and immigration. Last year, 14 students went on a Border Immersion Trip to El Paso, TX and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico to learn from and grow in relationship with our neighbors impacted by the broken realities of our southern border.

Learning & Conversation
At The Vine, we believe that expanding our minds and thinking critically are vital parts of the life of faith. Join us for conversations and programs throughout each school year that give us the opportunity to dig deeper into big questions. Occasionally we get together for "Table Talks" and "Pub Theologies" at local eateries, where we have delved into topics like Christian Protest and Patriotism, Talking Politics with Those Who Disagree and Islamophobia. Other times, speakers come share with us, like our annual visits from young adults returning from service overseas, a workshop of sexual ethics, or a recent visit from a professor of eco-theology.

Summer Outings
Just because school is out in summer doesn't mean our community goes dormant. The Vine citywide community gathers monthly during the summer for fun outings to explore our city. Previous summer outings have included trips to the Bronx Zoo, kayaking on the Hudson River, a trip to an escape room, museum visits, picnics, Yankees Game, marching in Pride, and more.
